The OHS English Department’s mission is to foster an appreciation of English language and literature while promoting literacy by building students’ writing, reading and critical thinking skills through the application of the common core standards.  Throughout the curriculum, we expect our students to read and think critically, challenge assumptions, practice methods of interpretation and research, analyze the organizational structure of texts, approach fiction and informational text from various perspectives, and present their writing to various audiences with clarity and coherence.
